DOGS DELIVERING
COMFORT & HEALING
Presence, Warmth, Compassion
At Paws & Effect we offer the unconditional love, comfort, and healing energy of registered therapy dogs to patients and students in a variety of health care and educational settings.
We are an all-volunteer 501C(3) public charity dedicated to serving those who need us most.
Therapy dogs have helped launch an entirely new field of medical research over the past two decades, and doctors are now finding that interaction with animals can even increase people's level of the hormone oxytocin. Beyond all the scientific health research is the natural yet unexplainable capacity that dogs have to teach and give their gifts of compassion, forgiveness, and living in the moment.
It was their powerful holistic canine connection that prompted us to start the Paws & Effect organization.

FOR PATIENTS
FOR FAMILY MEMBERS
Our dogs provide a welcome respite from worry for family members. They deliver warm emotional comfort as well as a safe outlet for grief. Families also see their loved ones smiling and playing. Those moments provide hope, relief and a sharing of happiness during difficult times. It is clear to those who have had the experience of a therapy dog visit that a wagging tail can make all the difference in the world.
Our therapy dogs help to reduce the stress of being isolated in a medical care facility. When the patient interact with our dogs they momentarily forget they are ill and are provided with a sense of hope and well being. In some cases of traumatic injury or surgery, the dogs can play an integral part in the physical therapy process and building their confidence to become independent again.

Comfort animals make the work environment more warm and friendly, as well as provide relief to caretakers. Incorporating a therapy dog into patient care regularly can result in a strong bond between the therapy team and staff members.
